Alopecia

Alopecia refers to a condition that causes the loss of hair, and even baldness. Alopecia does not occur as a result of ageing: it is often unwanted and uncontrollable. Although alopecia can be involuntary, factors that may cause it include the over styling of ones hair or repeated stressing of ones hair. Dyeing, overheating and teasing of the hair may all contribute to the condition known as alopecia. Alopecia may result from iron deficiencies in the body or may be hereditary. This condition most commonly occurs on the scalp; however, it may also account for hair loss on the arms, legs or other parts of the body.
