Atrophy

Atrophy is defined as the complete decay or wasting away of a specific part of the body. Atrophy may be caused by various conditions, such as poor nourishment, poor blood circulation, or even lack of exercise. Exercise may reduce the risk of this condition, as atrophy occurs due to a lack of use of muscles. Atrophy may be caused by infections or pathogens entering the blood or tissue, as well as being caused by normal development. Along with the many different reasons that atrophy may occur, there are various forms of atrophy. This condition may occur in muscle tissue, vaginal tissue, adrenal glands or as a result of diseases in motor neurons.
