Benign

Benign in medical terms is defined as something that does not danger human life, and is not cancerous. There are many different medical things that may be said to be benign, such as tumours, moles and cancer infections. For example, a large tumour may be worrisome to a patient, but may also be benign, meaning that it is not cancerous or dangerous to the individual in any way. The same principle applies to moles; they may be raised above the surface of the skin, but may also be benign. A patient is not able to determine whether a problem with their body is benign or not, only a trained doctor may classify something as benign.
