Breast Tissue Atrophy

Breast tissue atrophy is the shrinking of breast tissue as a result of breast augmentation, age, or other factors such as infection.  Breast tissue atrophy can occur as a result of large implants creating pressure against the breast tissue. Although this condition is not very common, the results can be somewhat disabling for those experiencing it. There is a chance that this condition may be linked with breast cancer, and therefore biopsies may be needed to rule out any possibility of infection or disease. Atrophy of breast tissues may also occur for reasons other than implants, and may slow the development and growth of the breasts.
