CO2 Laser

The carbon dioxide laser, invented in 1964 by Kumar Patel, is a device that is able to project a high power and continuous wave of light. Carbon dioxide lasers are often used in industrial production in order to cut and weld items. Carbon dioxide lasers can also be used in surgical procedures. In Israel, doctors are performing experiments with these lasers in order to weld human tissue together after surgery. Ultimately, the use of stitches or sutures will not be greatly needed, and scarring may even be less evident. Lasers can also be used for certain cosmetic surgeries such as facelifts or skin resurfacing.
