Incision
An incision is a small or large cut that is used during surgery to access the area being operated upon. In the field of cosmetic surgery, incisions are almost always used during surgeries that require implants, or on areas that are being augmented. During a breast augmentation, for example, incisions must be made in order to access the area of the breast in which the implant will be inserted. During procedures such a face lift, an incisions are made so that the skin can be pulled and tightened. Incisions are also used frequently during invasive surgeries so that any infections or problems may be corrected adequately.
