Otoplasty
The term otoplasty refers to the reshaping of the ears through cosmetic surgery. The most common reason that an individual may undergo this procedure is to move ears that protrude outwards back , and closer to the head. The procedure can be performed on an individual as young as two years old, and is relatively fast, taking up to forty-five minutes per ear. An incision is made in the crease behind the ear, and the ear is then pulled backwards towards the head. Sutures are used to hold the ear in place, and are removed when the skin has healed.
