Ptosis

Ptosis is the word that describes the medical condition constituting of an unnatural drooping of the upper eyelid. Ptosis can occur as a result of weakened Levator and MŸller's muscles, and may also be caused by damage or trauma to the nerves in the upper lid area. Ptosis can occur in both eyelids or just one, however ptosis is more common in older individuals. As an individual ages, the skin loses its elasticity and strength, and therefore may become droopy or weak. Simple surgeries may be used to correct this condition, depending on the severity and how it affects the patient.
