Transaxillary

The term transaxillary refers to the type of incison used to insert breast implants. This incision is made in the natural folds of the skin in the armpit area, and a channel is made from the incision site to the breast. Doctors may use a camera and light to assist with the procedure, and to ensure the safety of the patient. This type of incision may cause more brusing and discomfort for the patient after surgery, but is just as effective as a regular incision around the areola. An advantage of this type of incision is that the scarring does not occur in the breast.
