Vitiligo
Vitiligo is a disorder that causes discolouration in patches of the skin. This condition occurs when skin pigments die and are no longer able to work properly. The most simple way to diagnose vitiligo is to notice patches of unpigmented skin on the fingers and toes. This particular condition can be covered up with makeup but for more severe cases, treatments such as phototherapy and the use of ultra violet light are available. Individuals suffering from this condition may feel self conscious and depressed due to the appearance of their skin. A well known figure with this problem is Michael Jackson, whose skin was severely affected.
