Can you explain how the feather lift or thread lift works?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Facelift,Mr Taimur Shoaib — Tags: facial rejuvenation, feather lift, thread lift — admin @ 9:35 am

Q. Can you explain how the feather lift or thread lift procedure works? I would like the feather lift as i don’t want to go into theatre so can you tell me how it works and how long will it last for? I am 38 and have never smoked and have quite good skin.

A. The more mini a lift you have the more mini the result, in my experience. The feather lift/ thread lift is a procedure that lasts up to a year, but it really has absolutely minimal downtime. It works by pulling the skin upwards, but we know that skin stretches out again reasonably quickly which is why skin only lifts don’t last too long. There are other ways to give long term results for facial rejuvenation but it all depends on what changes we see as to what is best for you

Could you also tell me if the eye area is also classed as a facelift?

Filed under: Blepharoplasty,Expert Answers,Facelift,Mr Taimur Shoaib — Tags: Blepharoplasty, face lift, fat transfers, reducing the eye bags. — admin @ 8:01 am

Q. I want a facelift I think all my face needs doing as I have a lot of wrinkles and lose skin. Could you also tell me if the eye area is also classed as a facelift because i have large bags under my eyes.

A. Hi there – the under eye area is not really classified as a face lift, and in fact you may benefit from plumping the area with fat as well as reducing the eye bags. If you had all this, for example, you would be having a facelift, fat transfers and a blepharoplasty – ie three separate procedures.

Many surgeons (me included) do offer reductions in price for multiple treatments as the time in the operating theatre, for example, is not the same as if we were to to do three separate procedures on three separate people (as anaesthetic wake up and put to sleep time is reduced)

I had rhinoplasty 4 months ago and I am not happy what can be done?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Taimur Shoaib,Rhinoplasty — Tags: nose job final results, rhinoplasty not happy, rhinoplasty recovery — admin @ 7:58 am

Q. I had rhinoplasty 4 months ago and I’m not happy with the results. How long do I have to wait to see another surgeon for surgery? I am prepared to wait as long as it takes as I want it done right this time.

A. You should wait until you see the final results before having another operation, which can sometimes take about a year. Your scarring and nose should be nice and soft – when you feel the tip just now for example you may feel it is still quite firm. If you wait till this softens that is often a sign that the final results are being seen.

Would it be possible to have a nipple lift with implants?

Filed under: Breast Surgery,Breast Uplift,Expert Answers,Mr Taimur Shoaib — Tags: boobs have drooped, breast uplift with implants, dropping of the implant, nipple lift surgery — admin @ 7:57 am

Q. Would it be possible to have a nipple lift with implants and how much is it? My boobs have drooped so bad I really need them sorting and lifting, but I’m scared because I’ve read so many horror stories.

A. It certainly is possible to have either a nipple lift or a full breast uplift with implants. However, you do need to know some important things about the procedure. The commonest things that people see after surgery during the first few weeks are: dropping of the implant within a few weeks and the wounds unzipping after a few weeks (and knitting back together after a few more weeks).

The whole healing process takes a couple of months and during this time you will probably have dressings on the breasts to help things heal. You probably need to be able to see your surgeon on a regular basis, or at least the nurses that work with him in the hospital, because you will need regular wound checks to make sure your wounds heal nicely.

Also, the final results take around 6-12 months, and during this time the breasts do drop, so many surgeons place the implants a little extra high in the knowledge that things will drop down a little. The price varies according to what we need to do, but is around £5-6,000. You can have a look at some prices at www.labelleforme.co.uk/cosmetic_surgery_prices.html

Would like a face lift but I am concerned about the scarring?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Facelift,Mr Taimur Shoaib — Tags: asian cosmetic surgery, asian facelift, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation — admin @ 7:56 am

Q. I am of Asian descent and would like a face lift I’m concerned about the scarring as ive heard these are more visible on dark skinned people is the case do many Asians have this operation and what is the success rate?

A. Thanks for your question. You’re right in that the darker your skin the more likely you are to suffer from what we call post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (or PIH). PIH occurs whenever your skin is irritated (and that could be from an acne spot, an insect bite, chickenpox, or a surgical incision). At the site of the incision, your body may lay down more pigment than is needed.

That leads to a dark scar rather than a faint scar. It doesn’t always happen but it’s certainly a risk. If it does happen there’s not much that we can do to eliminate the PIH but it can certainly fade as the years go by. We sometimes modify the scars on a facelift so that we minimise the scar length in Asians and Africans in all types of cosmetic surgery, and we can get reasonably good results from these modifications. Thanks again for question and best of luck with whatever you do!

Will liposuction help me lose weight?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Liposuction,Male Breast Reduction,Mr Adrian Richards — Tags: body building supplements, liposuction male chest, Male Breast Reduction — admin @ 7:55 am

Q. I work out in a gym and I’m 6 foot 2 and 18 stone I need male breast reduction my bmi is around 35. My mother always says I’m thick set or big boned, and have tried diet and exercise but I can’t shift the fat in this area or is it liposuction I need?

A. Thank you for your enquiry. If you work out at the gym it is important to try and limit the amount of pec work you do such as bench presses.  This is because exercising the pecs makes them thicker and can actually make the chest area look more prominent. It is aslo important that you do not take body building supplements as these can contain hormones and steroids.

If these do not work the best option is probably liposuction as you suggested.  One of our patient advisors will be able to discuss your needs and schedule an appointment with one of our specialist surgeons.Thank you again for your enquiryWith best wishesAdrian RichardsPlastic and Cosmetic Surgeon

Treatment for open pores on my face?

Filed under: Chemical Peel,Expert Answers,Mr Adrian Richards — Tags: freshen the skin, light skin peel, open pores on face, reduce pore size — admin @ 7:51 am

Q. Hi, Ive a lot of open pores on my face could you recomend a procedure to reduce these please. I think i need a treatment for open pores on my face? Thank You.

A. Thanks for your enquiry. The best treatment for open pores is usually a light skin peel.  These freshen the skin and reduce pore size. The new peels are much milder than the older versions which caused the skin to peel off.  The newer ones are usually performed in a series of 3 and have very little down time.It would be best t see a surgeon or local skin specialist to discuss which is best for you.I hope this has been of help.

How long after having a baby can you have a tummy

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr Adrian Richards,Tummy Tuck — Tags: children following tummy tuck, tummy tuck surgery, tuumy tuck after baby — admin @ 7:50 am

Q. How long after having a baby can you have a tummy tuck?

A. Generally I recommend that you leave it at least 6 months following a having a baby.  This is because it takes at least that long for the muscles and skin to recover. Generally it is best to get down to a weight you are happy with and think you can maintain prior to surgery.  It is not advisable to have any further children following a tummy tuck as this will reverse its effect. It would be best t see a surgeon to discuss which is best for you.I hope this has been of help.
