Q. hi I have had three kids and was considering a tummy tuck to be honest i have no hangover my tummy is quite flat it is just the sriveled up belly button i really hate can it be sorted out with surgery with out a tummy tuck?

A. Thank you for your inquiry. I am afraid this is a significant challenge, and I am not familiar with any technique that has a strong track record for improving the thinned and stretched skin left as a result of pregnancy. Some of the techniques like Fraxel laser or Thermage may bring benefits, but I don’t know how much to expect from these treatments. Unfortunately, the effect on the skin that that you describe means that a significant amount of the collagen fibers in the area had been damaged, and there is no proven technique that can make the body repair them.

A. Thank you for your inquiry. Gastric banding is carried out by general surgeons rather than by plastic surgeons, so I am afraid I do not know the answer to your question.

Q. I m looking for the cost of capsulectomy, where cuts are made into the scar.(without breast implant replacement) how much money? How many of these procedures have you done?

A. Thank you for your inquiry. I have no experience of endoscopic assisted capsulotomy. Current evidence however seems to suggest that the risk of recurrence of the capsular contracture is relatively high with capsulotomy [incisions to break the capsule] as opposed to a degree of capsulectomy. I have not come across anyone who does scapulectomy [removal of part of the scar tissue] endoscopically. It is possible to do a capsulectomy and put the same implants back in if they are intact.

Q. I am 28 yrs old and have recently become quite concious about a reasonably deep frown line straight across the middle of my forehead. A. It’s almost impossible to get cosmetic surgery on the NHS and I can’t remember the last time I did cosmetic surgery on the NHS. To get treatment on the NHS you need to be referred by your GP, so that’s what you need to do first – see your GP and ask him to refer you. Your GP will get a letter back to say whether you’re eligible or not to be seen by a plastic surgeon in the NHS
