I have a 2 inch scar on my nose from an accident about 4 years back when I came off a motorcycle off road

Filed under: Dermal Fillers,Expert Answers,Mr Taimur Shoaib,Non Surgical Treatments,Scar Improvement — Tags: Dermal Fillers, treatments for scars — admin @ 10:15 am

Q. I have a 2 inch scar on my nose from an accident about 4 years back when I came off a motorcycle off road. I’ve looked at several options to treat the scarred area and an injection of fillers has come up on some of my searches and I can see it is listed on this website. How do dermal fillers help with the improvement of scars on the face and how effective in your opinion is this compared to other treatments. I originally wanted to find something that would remove the scar all together but it seem from some of the answers I have received this is highly unlikely so I don’t want to spend a fortune trying a treatment that doesn’t get me the results I want. Can you give me a little advice please?

A. Hi there. There are many treatments for scars and we have a whole range of options. The advantage of having a consultation with a consultant plastic surgeon is that we can discuss the best options for you. It’s not really for you to know what options are best for your particular scar, and that’s where the expertise of the surgeon comes in to play. If you want to have a consultation with a plastic surgeon that might be your best option in the first instance.

Is it possible to just have the ear lobe tucked in or reduced around the bottom of the ear

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr LeRoux Fourie,Otoplasty — Tags: ear lobe tucked in or reduced — admin @ 10:14 am

Q. Is it possible to just have the ear lobe tucked in or reduced around the bottom of the ear rather than the usual pinning back of the ears. Also wot would the scarring / recovery time be for such a procedure. I would have thought it would be possible?

A. The ear lobe can either be set back or reduced under local anaesthetic. The cost is about £1000. Ask your GP to refer you to a plastic surgery unit in a private hospital near you or find a surgeon on the BAAPS website (www.baaps.org)

I have had sculptra injections in Feb this year and after 4-6 weeks my face swelled

Filed under: Expert Answers,Mr LeRoux Fourie — admin @ 10:11 am

Q. I have had sculptra injections in Feb this year and after 4-6 weeks my face swelled and a firm lump was felt in my cheeks. Both sides have swelled every 4-6 weeks, not both at the same time ever sincve feb. I have been to various medical consulltants to check out if it is my teeth or ENT problems and all have no answer other than they have never seen it before. The lumps are evident whern you touch the inside of my cheekso in the deep tissue of mjy face but not visible when it is not swelled. I even paid to have an MRI scan to see if it would disclose the problem but it only highl;ighted l oval vascular lump in my left cheek and 2 smaller ones in my right. All the sepcialists I have seen have siad they have never seem this before and believe it relates to sculptra. Can you help please? My GP is at a loss and I am getting no where with the prctritioner who did the injections. She says it can happen with scullpture but she has never seen it swell and go down as it does in my case. I do not take any antibiotics as it goes down itself after 3-4 days.

A. It is the sculptura. I have seen this type of reaction. IO would suggest yiou see a plastic surgeon. I have tried injecting the area affected with Hyuronic acid (Hyalase) but in the end had to cut it out via a face lift incision . This particular patient had Sculptura placed by a nurse .See a BAAPS registered plastic surgeon

I just read your response to a patient enquiring about the use of a compression garment

Q. I just read your response to a patient enquiring about the use of a compression garment. I was given a compression insert to wear under a macom compression garment following a vaser procedure – I find it supportive and comfortable and I believe it has helped to reduce my pain and swelling; I’m just wondering what the purpose of the compression insert is and how long you would suggest a person to wear both?

A. Compression allows the skin to redrape. I advise my patients to wear a garment for at least 4 weeks

Im 15 years old and am so conscious of my big forhead

Q. Hello, Im 15 years old and am so conscious of my big forhead, i dont do sport, dont go swimming, and im constanlty worrying about it. Is it possible to have a forhead reduction surgey?

A. Hi there, thanks for your query.Having experienced hair loss at  a young age, I can empathise with you.But what you are considering is a very drastic surgery with severe implications for the rest of your life. My advice is to consider diffrerent hair styles to hide your prominent forehead. If you are experiencing hair loss, talk to your doctor or make an appointment to see me and we can discuss further options.

I would like to enquire about fue, i am @ present using a hair piece

Filed under: Dr Raghu Reddy,Expert Answers,Hair Loss,Hair Transplants,Mr. Raghu Reddy — admin @ 10:07 am

Q. hi i would like to enquire about fue, i am @ present using a hair peice and was wondering if it was possible to continue using the peice after the procedure dduring regrowth as i am only 32 and very self concious, also how long does it take for the appointment to come through, and how long before regrowth .. kind regards waiting in anticipation for a reply. thank you.

A. Hi there, thanks for your query. You can wear your hair piece after a week of undergoing fue. One note of warning, the system actually causes more hair loss to a pont where any number of surgeries might not give you a desired result. My advice is to get to see a hair restoration surgeon or a dermatologist at the earliest and try to find a way of getting away with the hair piece. You can look up on www.fiueclinic.com for ways of making an appointment.

im 30 male.i need hair transplant in front of my reciding hair line

Filed under: Dr Raghu Reddy,Expert Answers,Hair Loss,Hair Transplants,Mr. Raghu Reddy — admin @ 10:00 am

Q. im 30 male.i need hair transplant in front of my reciding hair line..i think i need 1000 hair follicles…i stay in mumbai..how expensive it is…can i do it in mumbai..

A. Hi there, thanks for your query.Without assessment of your pics, I’m afraid I might not be able to give a precise figure. I no longer fly to India to do procedures due to logistics. 1000 hair might be too little in that you are looking at 300-400 gratfs – for hairline restoration among asians, you need atleast 800-1000 grafts, meaning 2000-2500 hair.Kindly post your pics to www.fuehairclinic.com and I shall get back to you on the desired outcomes.
