Q. I have a large dark birthmark on my leg that i would like removed is it possible and how much would it cost?

A. Hi there Thanks for your enquiry It really depends on how big your birthmark is. Sometimes they can be removed in one sitting and sometimes if large they require more than one surgery. Please contact the office on 0845 2600 261 for an idea of costs and process Cheerio Paul banwell help@paulebanwell.com www.paulebanwell.com

Q. Please can you help . I am 50 year old woman who had a birthmark on the left side of my face (broken) also a full above the lip ( left side un broken ) I had a acid treatment in 1975 which broke the mark up but did not remove it. I then had a check rotation flap and a skin grath to the lip in 1976. i have been happy from the start with the check rotation flap but the skin graft to the lip did not take and i was left with a raised dented full thickness scar ( that covers the full left above lip area. I did have minor procedures ( shaving of the lip to flatten the area in 1999. ) with little / no improvment. could you please help me any further in my journey to accept myself. with hope . kind regards.

I have a large birth mark on my face which covers the left side of my face including the forehead

Q. I have a large birth mark on my face which covers the left side of my face including the forehead. What can I do for treating this please and how effective will this treatment be? I have done some research on this but im finding quite difficult to get a direct answer. Many thanks

A. Thank you for your email. The treatment depends upon the size and site of birth mark. We will consider options of skin graft, flaps, serial excision and tissue expansion. You may wish to explore possibilities of getting it done in NHS. In that case you should seek some advice from your local G.P. I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com  to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. She has asked for surgry many times but dose not know wether a scar will look worse and how big th scare would be . Please help

I have a large birthmark my face that I have attempted to get removed more than once

Q. I have a large birthmark my face that I have attempted to get removed more than once. The mark is around the size of a 50p coin and is a browny blue colour. I have had several courses of laser treatment which were ineffective. Are you are aware of any other treatments that may help for my situation?

A. It is difficult to give an opinion without seeing the mark or knowing where on the face it is situated. Would you be able to send me a photo at info@lerouxfourie.co.uk and I might be able to be more specific in advising youRegardsLeRoux Fourie

I have a birthmark/mole on the bottom of my back about the size of a penny could this be removed

Q. I have a birthmark/mole on the bottom of my back about the size of a penny could this be removed and if so how would it be done and approximatly what would the total cost be?

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry. It certainly sounds as if it would be possible to remove the birthmark from the lower part of your back under local anesthetic. This would result in a fine scar in the region which in most cases would fade and be less noticeable than the birthmark itself. The approximate cost of removing the removing the birthmark would be in the region of £400 and under local anesthetic. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you or indeed book an appointment to have the birthmark removed under local anesthetic, please phone us on 01844-214362. Many thanks for your enquiry. We do look forward to meeting you We do look forward to meeting you in person in the near future if you do decide to schedule a free consultation. My daughter has a birth mark on her ankle that goes nearly all the way around her leg

Q. My daughter has a birth mark on her ankle that goes nearly all the way around her leg. The NHS have refused to treat her because they say it is cosmetic but it makes her very unhappy. Although I wouldent usually encourage her to have cosmetic surgery for this particular problem I am quite happy to help her seek treatment and pay for the costs. I would like to know the different ways it could be removed and any risks involved with said treatment. I have taken some pictures of her leg to email if this would help. I have enquired with several surgeons over the last week but my decision will be based on several factors. I understand it is hard for you to be exact when discussing treatments without actually examining her but I don’t want her to have a consultation with every surgeon I have contacted. We live just outside Oxford and im quite happy to travel to see the right surgeon. I found you not only on this website but also via a recommendation from a colleague at work. She is currently 15 years old and of white European origin if this helps. I thank you for any help you gave provide. Mary

A. Please e mail me the photos at info@lerouxfourie.co.uk and I will be able to give you a more informed opinion LeRoux Fourie
