Q. After having a breast augmentation in 2008 i noticed straight away that i had symmastia but wasnt sure if it was just swelling. Im still not happy with the results is it best that i conact the clinic that performed this procedure to see what they can do?

Q. I had breast augmentation and benelli mastopexy for tubular breasts 2.5 months ago. The augmentation has gone very well but the areolars are very puffy (puffing outwards) The diameter of the areaola is also large when they are puffy. It is the projection of the puffiness that bothers me rather than the diameter. Is this likely to resolve at this stage or is it just part of the healing process? If not can it be fixed? If so, how and when would be appropriate? Many thanks.

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, unfortunately I think it’s unlikely that a diameter of the areola will shrink now and if anything is likely to enlarge slightly. It’s difficult to be sure with the puffiness that is going to improve but likewise the areolas may not flatten out.   If after 4 months the nipples remain puffy and flat it out and then you would like the best option would be to have a further consultation either with your original surgeon or another surgeon to discuss the best way forward for you.   Alternatively, if you would like to send us a photograph of the areas that concerned you we’ll be delighted to give you opinion as to the best way forward for you.   Best wishes yours sincerely,   Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics
