I have br4east implant performed at least 10 yrs ag9o

Q. I have br4east implant performed at least 10 yrs ag9o and having experienced problems with my right breast only over the years. The last couple of days I am experiencing again a soreness in my right breast it seems behind my nipple soreness in my muscle at top of armpit and sometimes a small pain which goes down my arm. The breast seems to be enlarged and is very uncomfortable. Is it possible to get an infection again or should I consider having them removed?

A. Thank you for your email. There are many causes for pain in breasts. It would be too early to advise you regarding removal or replacement of breast implants before your detailed examination is performed. If your breast has enlarged recently and became painful, it would be prudent to get an ultrasound to exclude rupture of the implant.  I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for  my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com  to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Hi, I had a breast enlargement done 2 years ago by

Q. Hi, I had a breast enlargement done 2 years ago by a brilliant surgeon called Eric Scholten. Over the last 6 months I have noticed that my left implant is harder than the right and sometimes causing me discomfort when laying down. The implant can still move, still kind of soft, but the middle of the implant feels hard like stone (if that makes any sense). I started doing my excersizes again about two weeks ago by laying on my chest and rolling side to side, for a couple of minutes in the evening, but doesn’t seem to be softening. Does this mean I have to have another op and pay another £4000? I have tried getting intouch with Eric Scholten at Harley Street, but I think the clinic may have closed down?

A. Thank you for your email. It is very likely that you may have developed capsular contracture. It is . a recognised after effect of breast implant surgery. It would ideal if you could contact your surgeon who performed your breast implant surgery. If capsular contracture is severe then it warrants surgical management.I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for  my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com  to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. My mum had a BA in 1984. 9-10 months later she developed

Q. Hi Adrian, Wondering if you could give me some advice. My mum had a BA in 1984. 9-10 months later she developed cc. She saw a PS and was going to have them replaced but she fell pregnant. The PS popped them and ever since she has had pain. They also became very hard and misshaped after breast feeding. She was to scared to go and have them replaced over the years because she thought they would not be able to replace them. Over the last few months she’s developed a lump under her arm pit and her right breast feels large and watery and also has pain (under armpit, shoulder, top of breast) the lump seems to drain every couple of days but then fills up again. Every couple of days she feels under the weather to. The breasts have now lost their fullness and are rock hard and misshaped. She is to scared to go and see a PS because she feels that they are so bad that they will not replace them. She is very slim lady ( 7 and a half stone) and pre op was flat chested, they were placed over the muscle but we do not know what size or make were used. Please could you give us your advice so i can convince her to see a PS, either yourself or any other PS. Thank you.

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it does sound as if your mother has developed a significant capsule around her breast implants. This would typically make them very firm and tender and cause distortion to the shape of the breasts.   Breast capsules are slightly more common when the implants are placed in front of the muscle and a possible solution might be to replace your mother’s breast implants under the muscle which would give a more natural appearance and also reduce the risk of capsular contracture developing again.   For more information about capsular contracture please have look at our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk and I think it might be sensible to get your mother to schedule a free consultation with one of our surgeons which would discuss the options with her.   If she is concerned and in pain, and  in particular she has got a lump under her armpit it would be best that she sees a plastic surgeon in the near future to discuss the best way forward for her.   Best wishes yours sincerely,   Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

I have had my breast implants for 2 years now and wish to have them removed

Q. Hi. I have had my breast implants for 2 years now and wish to have them removed as they are tool large for my body. I had 250cc however am a size 8 (uk) and therefore look out of proportion. I am 26 and wondered if I should have replacement implants owing to avoid sagging or whether you thought this may not be necessary? On average do womens breasts return to normal? Many thanks!

A. Hi there. It all depends on how much native breast tissue you have and what your skin elasticity is like. If, when we remove the implants, you don’t have any implants put in, then you can certainly have some put back in again, and we can go smaller. There are not many implants that are smaller than 250cc, but we do have 150cc and 180cc implants in the Nagor Impleo range.

I have had my implants for 3 months and I want them out

Q. Hi. I have had my implants for 3 months and I want them out. From day 1 I knew they where wrong. They are way too big for my body and look disgusting. I have to wait till next week to see my surgeon before I can have anything done. If I have them removed will my skin be too stretched. Do you have any pictures I can see so I can make a decision on what to do.  I and 25 years old, 140 lb, don’t smoke, had my implants for 3 months, I had 340cc over the muscle.  Please can you help I’m so desperate to be normal again

A. Thank you for your email. I am sorry to learn that you are not happy with your breast augmentation. It is a good idea to to discuss your issues with your surgeon in your follow up visit. I do not think that you will have long lasting streching effect on your breasts if you wish to get them removed since you are only 25 years of age. We have some patients photographs following removal of implants and would be happy to show you. I am considering having my implants removed as I have never been happy about the hardness to them

Q. Hello. I am considering having my implants removed as I have never been happy about the hardness to them. However, I am concerned with how my breasts will look after. My friend has just undergone fat transfer at a Bupa Hospital and she looks wonderful and natural. Would this be something I could consider? Thank you for your time. Rebecca.

A. Dear Becca, Thank you very much for your question, it’s certainly is possible to remove your implants and most people decide to have the implants replaced after the capsule is removed. As the capsule is causing hardness of the breasts. You are right that fat injection can be beneficial in some cases as in your friends but the do tend to be better in the early stages as some of the fat does absorb with time. I think it would be worthwhile having a look at our website http://aurora-clinics.com.uk for more information about the causes of capsules and the options for treating them and if you feel you would like to schedule a free consultation with one of our surgeons please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. I have a couple of questions about breast implant replacement if you could possibly answer them?

Q. I have a couple of questions about breast implant replacement if you could possibly answer them? The first is about the replacement itself. Is replacing a breast implant likely to cause as much pain as when it was originally put in? My first surgery took palce 6 years ago and was very painful. This is really not something I want to experience again but fuigure it will have to be done sometime. Secondly by having the implants replaced am I risking complications such as capsular contrature, is this more common in revision surgery? Thanks for you help

A. There are other aspects we have to take in concideration when you say you are having your implants replaced: why are you having them replaced, are they leaking, do you have a capsule?Implant replacement should not be too painfull. It depends if you are having a plane change ie are the new implants to be put under the muscle. If you have a capsule, a capsulectomy where the capsule is removed completely, needs to be done. This could lead to bleeding and this in turn could lead to capsule formation. You should ask the surgeon who is replacing your implants these questions. If you are going to a commercial clinic, insist on seeing the surgeon a few weeks before the surgery and not just the morning before surgeryRegardsLeRoux Fourie
