Q. Hello Dr, I had a chin resuspension with a surgeon. The surgeon drilled 4 holes in my jaw then used sushs to connect my skin to my jaw. Now my tongue doesnt settle, as it doesnt relax in its place without tension. Or it fells like its more forward or more enlarged in my mouth. Do you know about the chin resuspension and does it effect the tongue in any way. As my surgeon doesnt reckon so but I feel the tension on my jaw conection to my skin is efeecting my tongue. Q. I have inherited a very protruding chin from my mother and i have been very conscious about it ever since i was 11. I am now turning 18 and find it very difficult to feel confident and have to wear my hair down so it covers the side of my face. Is chin surgery an option?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, unfortunately we do inherit features from our parents and it is possible to correct your prominent chin with surgery. There are a number of options for this which includes surgery to the chin bone itself and to the jaw. This type of surgery is generally performed by a maxillo-facial surgeon and currently we do not have one in our team. I think it would be worthwhile having a look on the website or phoning your local private hospital to schedule an appointment with a local maxillo-facial surgeon who’ll be able to discuss the options with you. Q. I am looking for a cost estimate for a chin tightening / implant for a 27 year old male. An information will be greatly appreciated.
A. I’m not sure what chin tightening is, but I can certainly do a chin implant for you. The cost depends on the cost of the implant and has been around £4000 in the past. I can also do chin injections with things like restylane subQ for a quicker and more affordable reshaping, but it is temporary and lasts for around 12-18 months
