Q. I have a problem with excessive sweating and was wondering apart from botox whether there are any alternative treatments which would last longer than the 6-9 months that the botox may last. Thank you for your email.Please specify the site of excessive sweating e.g. arm pits or hands etc. In the arm pit, the swear glands underneath the skin can be reduced in numbers by open surgery or by superficial laser assisted liposuction. Q. I have suffered from excessive sweating under my arms and on my back for many years now and I have tried loads of remedies that have no effect whatsoever. I read an article that Botox injections can treat sweating but I was enquiring for how long the treatment lasts before I need more.
A. Botox to the armpits last about 3 months. It is very effective. It is sometimes available on the nhs DEPENDING ON LOCAL FUNDING. The cost if done privatly is about £350

Q. Do Botox injections to treat excessive sweating cost the same amount as when you apply the treatment for facial wrinkles. My wife has had Botox a several occasions and read in one of her many beauty mags that it can also help excessive sweating and I should give it a go. Is this correct?
