Q. Id like to have filler injections to improve the look of my hands. Is there a particular type of filler for hands or do you use the same fillers that someone would have in their face? Ifear the skin on my hands has been affected by years of smoking but the strange thing is the skin on my face is still ok. Why do my hands look so bad?
A. Anyone who has the answer to hand rejuvenation will become a millionare!I personally do not use the same fillers to tjhe hands as I use in the face. You need a large volume of fillers in the hand and, because of the voleume, I use microfatgrafts. This is fat harvested from your tummy, hips, inner thighs or knees. The fat is then carefully injected to the back of the hands using fine blunt needles. The hands do swell a lot and there is the risk of bleeding if one of the veins on the back of the hand is injured.Because it is your own fat it carriees some stem cells with it that rejuvenates the skin to a small extent.The cost is about £1800 if done underv general anaesthesia.RegardsLeRoux Fourie

Q. Could you please give me a suggestion for rejuvenation of the skin on my hands. I feel my hands look very attractive and would like to try get rid of some of the wrinkles so they don’t look so old.
A. The best way to plump up the back of the hands is to use microgatgrafting. This technique was described by Coleman in New York and uses your own fat, the fat is harvested from the inner thighs or knees or abdomen and then injected into the ack of the hands with a special needle via numerous tiny punctures. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic. The cost is about £800 to £1000. The hands will be swollen for up to 3 weeks.
