Q. I am an asain and I have acne scarring/skin indentation scars from when I had severe acne at 20. I am now 43 and the scars are that much more visible. with my skin ageing now. Ihave trie skin peels, microdermabrasiona, dermaroller and I don’t believe thre is any difference tomy skin. I have been reading about CO 2 Laser treatment but it looks very aggressive. What would your advice be please?

A. Hi there. CO2 laser in Asian skin will often lead to excess pigmentation in the areas treated. This is called “post inflammatory hyperpigmentation” and takes about two years before we see how much it’s going to fade. Even then in Asian skin it doesn’t fade completely, usually. CO2 laser also leaves your skin red for a about 3 months or thereabouts, so the recovery is a lot longer. Having said that, it’s a very effective treatment for acne scarring – it’s just that it takes a long time to recover from the treatment and with Asian skin often there are permanent side effects that many people consider to be worse than the effects of the treatment.

Q. Good Morning Dr. Vadodaria, Hope this finds you well. My wife who is originally from the UK had Evolution / Outline Dermal Fillers injected into her Nasolabial folds in 2001-2. Since 2004 she has been getting recurring inflammation in the same filler area. The course of action has been visit the local Surgeon/Plastic Surgeon who inserts an injection and sucks out all the foreign matter and puts her on a course of antibiotics. Initially this used to occur every 2 years. Since the last 2 years it has occurred every few months and the present situation is that the infection won’t go away and she is permanently on antibiotics. Our current plastic surgeon has informed us that a ” Granuloma” has formed in the area and the Filler is migrating. He has suggested surgical intervention as a permanent cure, if not he has recommended a plastic surgeon in Milan/Italy who does Laser Surgery as a possible avenue. Can you please concur if the above is correct. Will Laser surgery cure her problem. Are there any doctors in the UK who do laser surgery to clear the Granuloma, as we would prefer visiting the UK to Milan. Any advice is highly appreciated. Kind Regards

A. Thank you for your email. I do feel that there are very competent surgeons  to deal with such granulomas following dermal fillers. You do not need to travel to Europe to deal with that. You could also inquire about the plastic surgeons with special interest in Laser to help you further. You need to find out the exact nature of dermal filler used and find out whether an antidote is available to neutralise the filler or not. I hope this helps. With very best wishes,

Q. i have prominent blue veins just below my eye and the side of my face which effects my confidence etc. is there any available painfree treatment? what are the costs? HELP!!!

Q. from a previous relationship i have 2 very small tattoos, (one outline of a heart in blak, and on chinsee letters ) i was forced into getting, i was wonfering how much it is to get leserd of as my doctor wont refur me on nhs, aslo i have a number if cutts on my arm from self harming, that i cant show anyone, i ccanteven wear t-shirts, making me very depressed. i was wondering how much also this would cost to remove or laser or whatever the best option is.

Q. What is the Fraxel laser and can I go back to work after a treatment? I would like to have some kind of facial rejuvenation and I have heard people saying that this is one of the best treatments available. How many treatments would it take to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles?

Q. Good Morning, I had laser resurfacing for acne scars in May 2010 and although it has improved around 60%, my skin is still a little uneven and with some redness where some spots/scars use to be, I have been reading about the Obagi Blue Peel, do you reckon this would be a good procedure to help even my skin out? Do you perform it yourself? and how long should I wait before I do any other procedures considering I had the laser resurfacing? Also, I am interested in having a 2nd BA as I would like to go a little bigger ( I had 290cc and would like to go up to maybe 375-390cc) Would it be possible to discuss both procedures at a consult? also, would it be possible to have both procedures performed at the same time to reduce costs/time off work? If you could also advise the costs for these I will be very grateful! I have been doing some research and I have only read good reviews about yourself so I intend to have a consult with you soon.

A. Hi there and thanks for the kind words. You can certainly have a blue peel and breast augmentation together. However, the most cost effective way may be to have a peel at my clinic and the surgery at the hospital. We can certainly discuss costs at a consultation, though, and I can give you your choices. Peels can be used for acne scarring, and I also have a laser for acne scarring at my clinic. So there are a few ways of doing things for your skin. Acne scarring often does require multiple treatments and we can discuss the results of peels vs laser and which would be best for you. I do perform the peels myself, as they’re quite deep, and I have a laser therapist that does laser resurfacing for me.
