Q. I am considering surgery for gynaecomastia. I have type two diabetes which is well controlled. Will this change anything if i wanted to go ahead with surgery? Would the scar be worse and would recovery time be longer? I have an active job. Does the fact that i am a diabetic have any other problems if i went ahead with surgery?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry about possible treatment for gynaecomastia. This is normally possible to be treated if you do have type II diabetes it’s important to get down to a normal weight with a body mass index of 30 or below prior to your surgery. The main options of treatment during liposuction and excisional techniques and it would be best to see you in person to discuss the best way forward for you in person. To arrange a free consultation please ring us on 01844-214362 or email us on info@aurora-clinics.co.uk. Many thanks for your enquiry, we do look forward to meeting you in the near future. Q. I underwent liposuction treatment about 4 years ago on my chest to treat my man boobs but I was very disappointed with the results and would like to discuss alternatives treatments that may be a better option. Although the liposuction did get rid of some of the breasty areas it seem to be getting worse again and I have not put any extra weight on. When I orginially did the surgery I was looking for a permanent solution and I don’t feel I got this. Would you be able to offer me any advice please?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. I am soryy to hear that you are troubled by this problem. Recurrance of “man boobs” can result form a number of factors. If all of the breast tissue was not removed then this can regrow. You should have a full hormone profile blood test to ensure that you do not have a hormonal imbalance which is the cause. I would also recommend a ultrasound scan of your chest to determine if there is any breast tissue or just fatty tissue. Any breast tissue will need to be excised by surgery. Please call Anne or Kirstie on 0207 863 2140 or email kirstie@lbps.co.uk who will be happy to assist you. Q. Hi there. Im aged 45 and male and looking for treatment breasts. At this age am I too old to be considered for surgery for this. I used to lift weights when I was in my thirties and I think this has happened since I stopped lifting. Thanks for your help.
A. Thank you for your enquiry. If you have “moobs” ie man boobs and can feel breast tissue under the skin, this can be corrected with careful remocal of the fat and skin redraping by means of post surgery taping and the wearing od a compression vest for up to six weeks. If you just have loose and floppy skin, it is more difficult as the skin needs to be cut away. \This can sometimes be done with a doughnut type of excision around the nipple but will leave a scar around the nipple. You are welcome to send aphotos from the front and side to me or arrange a consultation with an accredited plastic surgeon near you (see www.baaps.org)RegardsLeRoux Fouriee-mail: info@lerouxfourie.co.uk

Q. What are the option available to me to flatten my man breasts. I am only 28 and this is causing me a great deal of worry as I can only see the problem getting worse.
A. Hi there. Male chest enlargement is also called gynaecomastia and I have put some information on line about it here: http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/gynaecomastia.html. I use a combination of lipoosuction and excision to try and get the best results and it’s a decision I sometimes make before the operation when I examine you and sometimes I make the decision in the operating theatre before we stop the procedure. If you would like me to see you to give more information about your personal situation then I would be happy to see you at a formal consultation

Q. Im a male aged 33 and have been considering liposuction to my chest because of my man boobs which I find very unattractive, I would also like something done around my hips as well. I have a couple of questions about the surgery I hope you can answer. Will surgery involve alot of swelling under the arm area and around the hips? How long is it normal for someone to resume normal activites such as sport etc?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry. We do find that Vaser liposuction is often the best way of treating the areas you described. The advantage of Vaser therapy is that it does not involve lots of swelling, and most people will be back to work within 10 days of the procedure. If you would like a free consultation to discuss the best way forward you, please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362 or email us at info@aurora-clinics.co.uk. Q. Im a 27 year old male from Glasgow and would like to know roughly how much it would cost to under go male breast reduction surgery as I find it hard to feel good and have a low self esteem because of this. I have a healthy diet and don’t smoke so feel I could be a good candidate for surgery. Cheers Gordon
A. Hi Gordon. My prices are on line at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/cosmetic_surgery_prices.html and there’s information on gynaecomastia at the website at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/gynaecomastia.html. Many men tell me the same thing you’re saying to me, and they want to be able to take their top off at the beach, gym or pool and they feel embarrassed about it. The idea behind surgery is to make it look like you haven’t had surgery and to make it look as if you don’t need surgery either.
