I have a long, wide, 10 year old scar from a knee surgery and would like to know if there is a non surgical skin treatment

Q. I have a long, wide, 10 year old scar from a knee surgery and would like to know if there is a non surgical skin treatment that is the best in making it less noticeable?

A. Hi there. We can often make a scar better, but it’s impossible to completely remove a scar. We have a number of treatment options depending on the exact shape of the scar including surgery, laser, dermaroller, creams, micropigmentation, etc. Please do come in for a consultation with me and I can let you know what would be best for you

I wish to make this enquiry to you because I have a scar on the left side of my face which I want to get corrected

Q. I wish to make this enquiry to you because I have a scar on the left side of my face which I want to get corrected, I just want to make my face look normal gain. What treatments do you offer for facial scarring please?

A. I offer several options for facial scarring. We can try and improve facial scarring but we can’t really take the scar away completely. To improve the scarring we have a few options, and what we use in you depends on what exactly we see. We can use creams and injections of steroids to flatten red raised scars and the treatments also make the scars less red. Scars that don’t follow the right contours of the face can be altered so that the orientation of the scar lies in a direction that is less likely to be seen. We can use laser treatments to improve raised scars and finally we can use micropigmentation to blend the colour of the scar with the surroundings. Many treatments need to be repeated and sometimes we also offer camouflage makeup which can be used by both men and women. I hope that’s helpful information
