Q. I have suffered for years with excessive sweating in the head..take the recent heat situation i only have to be outside sitting or standing and within minutes the back of my head is soaking as with my forehead…once that happens its a vivious circle i am very aware which makes it worse…is there any help? i have been told of Tap water iontophoresis machineswould it work..
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, you’re right that iontophoresis can work very well in some cases but this is normally on the hands as this is a good area to get in this iontophoresis bath. We have used botox in this situation with good results and if you would like to schedule a consultation discussing whether this would be appropriate for you please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. Over the last 2 years i have been suffering from excessive sweating under my arms and back. It is particularly bad under my arms and nothing I use seem to work. Im not overweight and I am a very fit person and I sweat normally when exercising. For some reason at certain times (usually at work) I sweat really badly uner my arms. The doctor hasn’t been able to help and I wondered of there was an answer if I sort it through a plastic surgeon?
A. Thank you for your email. This condition is called axillary hyperhidrosis. It is dealt with Botox injection in the arm pit. This is done as an office procedure. Please note that the effect of Botox last only between 3 to 6 months hence you require regular ‘top ups’. I have following suggestions to help you further: You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance. Q. hello, i suffer from hyperhidrosis, however i am 14 years old; and i am considering having the injections, would i be old enough? and how much would this treament cost? please could you emil me as soon as possible. many thanks rosa
A. Hi Rosa I suggest you go to your GP first to see if they can prescribe some topical treatments – this would be covered on the NHS. Sometimes botox is covered but most of the time patients need to seek a private consultation . However, you are quite young to be considering this so again I would suggest you go with your mum to the GP and discuss the situation with them first Good luck PB

Q. I have heard that you can use botox to stop sweating. Can you tell me where these injections can be done as i seem to sweat all over? How much does it cost?
A. The most common areas where botulinum toxin can be used for excessive sweating at the armpits and sometimes the back. The cost of the treatment varies between 400 and £800, depending on the amount of product used.Although technically it is possible to do more extensive treatments, it becomes impractical, and it might be worthwhile discussing your concerns also with a dermatologist to explore additional options apart from using botulinum toxin. As far as the treatment for the armpits, in my experience the success rates are very good and patients find it very useful.

Q. Hello I have a problem with excess sweating and whenever i am around women or in certain situations i sweat a lot mainly under my arms and back but also my face a little as well. I have read that Botox can be used to treat this and am very interested in having it done but wanted to know.
1. Does it hurt ?
2. How much does it cost?
3. How long will it last?
A. Thank you for your enquiry. You are right that Botox treamtent is very effective for excessive sweating.Costs are between £400 – £600 per treatment session and this simple procedure is tolerated well by most patients. Some numbing cream may be applied to the ares for 20-30 minutes after the procedure. The treatment tends to last approximately 6 months but in some cases can last up to a year.I hope this has been helpful and if you feel you would like to schedule an appointment please contact 08707 606555 and speak with one of our patient advisors.

Q. What kind of treatments for sweating are available. I am getting married in 3 months and sweat under my arms a lot and can just imagine how mucb i am going to sweat at my wedding. I have heard of some injections you can give that would stop this or is their surgery options?
A. the best treatment for this is botox injections. The injections take a couple of weeks to start working completely, the last for 6-12 months, but sometimes you can find your palms or your back starts sweating more as a result of the armpits not sweating as much
