Q. Hi, is it okay to do dermaroller and microdermabrision together? If yes, which should I do first and how long do I wait between treatments?
A. It is OK to have dermaroller and microdermabrasion for the same problem, and I would have the microdermabrasion first. You should wait until your skin has recovered from the microdermabrasion before having the dermaroller (usually a couple of days). We do both treatments at La Belle Forme, and my nurse does the dermaroller and my beauty therapist does the microdermabrasion

Q. I heard a combination of microdermabrasion and a chemical peel can be great for the rejuzenating the skin. Can microdermabrasion be alternated with mild exfoliating pads instead of a light peel to produce a similar effect?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, you’re right that combination microdermabrasion and chemical peel can provide really great results for rejuvenating the skin. I generally advice you to schedule a consultation with a skin specialist to discuss whether exfoliating pads would be used as well as this would make your skin tight. I do wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go ahead with treatment. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. I am not looking as young as I used to and I discussed this problem with one of my friends. She said it would be a good idea to go for microdermabrasion procedure. What are your thoughts about this treatment anti aging?
A. Microdermabrasion is VERY superficial. It will make your skin look better for a short time but is not a substitute for more invasive but longer lasting procedures such as Dermaroller

Q. I had Fraxel repair treatment done 6 months ago and the results were bad to say the least. Will a treatment like microdermabrasion or chemical peel likely help the situation?
A. My personal preference at the present time is Dermaroller. This is a course of 3 treatments 56 weeks apart with home maintanance treatment in between. I have been very impressed with the results (and I am a natural sceptic). The cost of 3 treatments and home maintanance kit is £1180 inclusive of the initial consultation. The treatment can be done in Methley Park Hospital near Leeds or in the Leeds Nuffield Hospital. It is done under local anaesthetic nerve bloicks and local anaesthetic cream. There is some redness for 3 to 4 days.I hope that this is of helpLeRoux Fourie FRCSwww.lerouxfourie.co.uk

Q. I would like to know the price of chemical peels and microdermabrasian and when and if it can be done. Im not sure if I have chosen the correct options, I want to to correct my skin or have a new layer of skin to get rid of acne and acne scarring. Plesae could you tell me what you can, I wouild be very grateful.
A. I have found that microdermabrasion does not work for acne scarring. We are seeing good initial results with Dermaroller. This needs 3 treatments six weeks apart and home maintanance therapy. The cost is £400 for the initial treatment, £180 for the home maintanance kit and £300 for subsequent treatments. To arrange a consultation please phone Christine 01977664258. The dermaroller website might also be of helpRegardsLeRoux Fourie

Q. I had fraxel repair skin treatment and it dident gives me the best results at all. After doing some more research I wanted you opinion on whether a chemical peel or microdermabrasion could help?
A. You do not state if the fraxel was to your face or what part of the body. I do not do fraxel, chemical peels or microdermabrasion. I am getting very good results with Dermaroller (www.genuinedermaroller.co.uk)LeRoux Fourie

Q. I have had various attempts to correct two ice pick scars on my leg using Dermabrasion but I dont think it has been particularly effective. What other options are there for treating these scars?
A. Dermabrasion only takes the top layer off. If it is an ice pick scar, the scar has to be released under the skin and then kept out with either a killer or microfatgrafting. LeRoux Fourie

Q. Will microdermabrasion help the acne on my face. I get really bad break outs every couple of months and have been for about the last 3 years. Pkease can you offer me some advice.
A. microdermabrasion probably won’t help much with acne – to treat active acne you’re best off seeing a GP or a dermatologist to assess things in more detail. Sometimes light therapy can help kill the bacteria that cause acne, and we can help with that therapy at La Belle Forme. However, active acne can be a difficult problem to treat, I’m afraid
