Q. I have 4 small tattoos i would like removed, and I would like to find out if surgical excision is a viable option. are there any parts of the body where this would not work etc?
A. surgery is possible to remove most tattoos, but sometimes there’s not enough stretch and laxity in the skin to remove the tattoo in one go. When that is the case we have to wait for the skin to stretch out again (usually about 6 months later) and we can remove more of the tattoo. Eventually the tattoo is removed, usually.

Q. I would like a tattoo removed from my ankle. The tattoo is about 3 inchs long and it runs up my shin. What treatments are there to remove the tattoo and will it be a painful process?
A. Hi there. I used to offer laser treatments to fade tattoos but after several treatments I would see that the tattoo had faded but was still there. What I now offer are treatments such as “serial excision” where we remove as much of the tattoo as your skin can handle, and then your skin grows again so we do a bit more a few months later. The laser treatments need to be repeated every month or two and you would normally need around 8-10 treatments depending on the colour of the tattoo.

Q. Hi, I was wondering if there a way just to fade the tattoo i have on my arm thats about 7inches high and get something covering it up? Or can this no be performed?
A. This is not a procedure we specialize in Aurora Clinics but it maybe worthwhile enquiring locally for specialist clinics which do have lasers which can remove tattoos. I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to proceed with treatment. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. I have a large tattoo in black covering approximately half the outer facing portion of my upper right arm. I like tattoo’s but due to the slightly rushed manner in which i chose it i have never been happy with the design. I am considering a new tattoo but have been advised that i would have to get the tattoo i have faded with laser treatment first. Could you give me an approximate number of sittings for estimated results, i can attach pictures following your response.
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, unfortunately we do not perform this type of surgery here at Aurora Clinics but I know there are a number of clinics that do specialize in this form of treatment. I would advice it maybe sensible to have a look on the internet for clinics specialising this form of treatment and schedule a consultation with them. I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go ahead with treatment. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. How much would it cost for a series of small tattoos to be removed off my neck?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it’s certainly is possible to reduce the appearance of tattoos and my advise normally is to have treatment with laser therapy initially. This will decrease the pigment in the scar and make it less noticeable. The other option is to remove the scar with a little touch of surgery but this does involve a scar and the size of the original tattoo. If you would like to consider having the scar removed in an operation this is a procedure that we can perform and if you would like to discuss whether this be would be appropriate for you it would be best to see you in person to assess the area. You can arrange a consultation by ringing us on 01844-214362. We look forward to meeting you in person to discuss the best way forward for you. Best Wishes, Yours Sincerely Adrian Richards Consultant Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. I have two smallish black-ink tattoos on my back and arm, which have already been partially removed following non-laser treatment. I would like dermabrasion or excision to remove them completely – which would be the cheaper and which would cause the least scarring? Many thanks.
A. Thank you for your email. If the size is small enough then I prefer to treat tattoo by means of excision and direct closure. We need to keep the options of serial excision and skin graft open depending upon the size as well as location of tattoo. Dermabrasion may be considered in case of only superficial tattoo .I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance.
