Q. Dear Dr. Vadodaria, I already enquired about surgical tattoo removal and you responded. However, there seems to be a problem with the link and I am unable to view your answer. I searched the blog but could not find it there as well. I e-mailed some pictures yesterday after speaking to your PA. My tattoo is on the neck and cannot be removed with laser treatment. I was looking to find out is you think it’s possible to remove it surgically, and what would be the price range. Of course, I understand that I need to book a consultation for full information and exact prices. It would be helpful to have an idea if it’s possible to completely remove the tattoo and the cost involved. Thank you. Regards, Dimitrina
A. Thank you for your email. It seems that the response email after review of your photographs is lost! Apologies. The tattoo is of significant size . We need to discuss following options in detail: 1) Excision and skin graft 2) Serial excision in multiple stage. 3) Excision and reconstruction with tissue expansion I have following suggestions to help you further: 1)You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 2) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance. Q. Hi. I have a slightly faded tattoo on the side of my hand. (1 yr old). would laser or excision be a better option for me? Thanks
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, generally laser treatments of tattoos helps them fade but this does not removed them completely as there will be some scarring left in the site. Unfortunately, a protonist is generally the best option as there is no a guaranteed way of fully removing your tattoo once the ink is deeply placed within the skin. I think it would be worthwhile looking in your area for a laser clinic which specializes in tattoo removal and scheduling a consultation with them to discuss the best way forward for you. I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go ahead with treatment. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. Is there such a treatment as surgical tattoo removal please? I have a embarassing tattoo on my body and thankfully is is generaly covered up with clothing. It measures 4cm by 6 cm and is located on the upper part of my back. Could you please help?
A. Hi there Yes, tattoos can be removed surgically or by laser. Sometimes they need to be removed in a so-called ‘serial fashion’ which involves a couple of small operations (probably under a local anaesthetic). This minimises the scarring Please do contact Kim or Janine in the office on 0845 2600 261 or email help@paulebanwell.com. Cheerio Paul Banwell www.skininstituteuk.com

Q. I have a tattoo which is an inch in width by approx 4 inch in length on my wrist. I would like this removed. Could u tell me how much this would cost and how much scaring there would be, thank you
A. to remove a tattoo we have a couple of options including surgical excision and laser fading. a one inch tattoo is probably going to need a couple of operations to correct, and each operation costs around £400-500 – but the number of operations to remove it depends on the laxity of your skin and the orientation of your tattoo. If you want me to see it to let you know how many goes it will take, I can see it at my next open event on October 18th at my clinic in Glasgow City Centre. We want to limit your scarring but also want to limit the number of operations it takes to remove it completely, and that’s where the balance lies.

Q. I have a tattoo that runs from the bottom of my spine up to the centre of my back and I would like this either removed or made less noticeable. The colour of the tattoo is black with no other added colours would this be something you could remove sort of surgery would this require? I understand that it is hard to give any idea of price without seeing me but as far as treatment is concerned I assume it would require several visits? Any help you can offer would be greatly welcome. Thank you
A. You should contact a clinic that specialises in Laser tattoo removal. There are a few Spire hospital that do this. Look at www.spirehealthcare.co.uk

Q. hi Mr Lucian Ion i have currently got a few tattoos on my neck and want them removed but dont want laser as it takes to long how much would it be for any alternatives thank you excuse the email it my boxing name
A. Thank you for your enquiry. It is unlikely that the result open excision would be anywhere near the aesthetic quality of laser treatment. The scars on the neck do not always heal as fine lines, and would potentially be much more visible. I am not a laser specialist, but I know that standard surgery is very rarely a good solution for tattoo removal.
