Q. I have taken my son to the doctors for the past 2 years complaining about the warts on his hands they keep fobbing me off saying they’ll go in their own time. The longer i’m leaving it the more there are. now i’ve noticed little skin tag things just below his bottom lip. i’m worried they are getting out of control . how much will i exspect to pay for this as i’d rather just get it dealt with myself. i would also like to know if it will hurt him. most of them are smooth bumps some are a little rough and a couple have two or three in the one spot. he has about 10 to 12 i think . thanks
A. Hi there. There are treatments for warts that you can get from the chemists, and there are treatments that we can do as surgeons. The surgical treatments depend on what we are able to do with him awake or asleep – sometimes we need to do treatments under general anaesthetics and sometimes we can do things under local anaesthetic. If there are 10-12 warts then perhaps we should consider something under general anaesthetic as it might be uncomfortable for your son. It might be best for me to see him and talk to you about the options. If you would like to call 01415520828 my staff can book you in for a consultation and we can discuss things there.

Q. My partner has an unsightly wart on his lower lip which is affecting his self esteem. His GP has referred him to a plastic surgeon to have it removed but it could take anything up to 12 months to do. His private health cover will not cover him as they class it as a non exceptional medical need. What would the proceedure be for its removal? any idea of likely cost as I would wish to pay for him to have it removed? Thanks
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it is certainly possible to remove a wart from your partner’s lower lip and this can be done very simply under local anesthetic. If the lesion is ground it is normally possible to have it done under your healthcare policy but this does vary from individual to individual. Normally, the cost of removal if it’s not covered under your healthcare policy would be relatively cheap but relatively inexpensive and can normally be performed for possibly 300 pounds. If you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way of removing this under local anesthetic please ring 01844-214362. Alternatively, you could just schedule the procedure to be performed and I could consult and I could discuss what’s involved a part from there and perform this. I do wish you the best of luck if you does decide to proceed having the lesion removed. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. I have horrible warty hands, they look like witches hands. I take a very light veiw of this but still would like them removed. I have several on both hands anmd wanted to look at treatments to have them removed as painlessly as possible? Could you help me please?
A. Hi there. Warts can be treated using a number of techniques and sometimes your GP will hold a wart clinic where he freezes warts. We usually treat one hand at a time as your hand will probably peel some of the skin during the recovery.

Q. I have warts in different parts of my body, and I would like it all to be removed, please; how much does it cost for body wart removal? Does it hurt, will I bleed, do I have to stay in a hospital, or is it a one visit removal session? Do you accept credit cards?
A. Hi there A lot of questions!!! I cannot really answer for certain until I have had a look at your skin as the treatment might vary depending on what your ‘warts’ actually are. It is unlikely you will need to stay in hospital but yes, depending how many are remove, it is likely you will have some discomfort! We will give you lots of local anaesthetic (possible cream as well) although in some cases I do use an general anaesthetic if patients have particularly difficult lesions Please do phone Kim, my secretary, and arrnage an appointment on 0845 2600 261 I look forward to meeting you Cheerio Paul Banwell
