Q. Hi, Im interested in having a fairly extreme breast reduction. At the moment Im a 38H and would love to go down to a B cup. Im in my 40s and am in good health and do not smoke or drink. Could you tell me if this would be possible and a rough estimate of price? Many thanks
A. Thank you for your inquiry. By and large, it is possible to do any degree of breast reduction, and but my overall advice is to avoid going to a very small cup size from a relatively large one. The main reason for this is related to the fact that large breasts have a wide base on the chest wall, which cannot be aesthetically contoured to match the shape of a smaller breast. This means that with more extreme reductions, the breast can end up relatively shape less, which I perceive as a disappointing result. In someone considerably older than you, who is suffering with severe shoulder and back pain, a drastic reduction which almost corresponds to a breast amputation, may represent an adequate intervention, but I sincerely doubt that the same would be suitable for your case. In most instances, and there is a misperception regarding the element of lift associated with a smaller reduction. Even if your cup size decreases to something like to a C or a D, the element of lift would be very powerful, with substantial improvement in posture and shoulder discomfort, as well as improvement in the breast shape.
