Q. Hi there, over the last year I have developed protruding lumps on my forehead. I have had a CT scan and the results indicate that everything is normal. However these lumps are quite painful and resemble a sort of semi circle on the top of my forehead. As a male, is there any kind of procedure I can have to get rid of these?. Do you know what this is? I am hoping to get referred to a specialist via my GP if i can convince him how much pain I am in however in he past he has just stated that this “swelling” will disappear, however, it is definately some sort of bone growth and not fluid.

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, overall it would be quite important to find out the cause of the lumps on your forehead as they can be caused by the bone or the soft tissue and skin which overlies it.   If your GP is not absolutely clear on the cause of the lumps, I think it would be worthwhile being referred to other plastic surgeon or a maxillo-facial surgeon in your area.   They would be able to give you advice as to the cause of the bumps exactly we’d be able to discuss the best ways of reducing them.   I think it would be worthwhile scheduling further consultation with your GP to try and clarify the situation and perhaps ask for a referral to a suitable specialist.   Many thanks for your enquiry.   Best wishes yours sincerely,   Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics
