Q. I am considering a breast enlargement, but I would like to know how long it will last for? Is there such thing as a lifetime breast implant?
A. Modern day breast implants should last a long time – and we don’t usually have to remove implants or change them unless there’s a problem. However, about 30% of women who do have an implant inserted will have it changed for some reason or other within a few years (sometimes to go bigger, sometimes because there’s capsular contracture, and for a host of other reasons too). However, if it doesn’t cause any problems then it can stay in forever. I once saw someone who had their implants in for 40 years!
