I had a gastric band fitted and as expected I have extra skin
Q. I am 34-year old man who has lost 12 stone. I had a gastric band fitted and as expected I have extra skin. However I had not expected to have so much extra on my chest. I look like I have been breast-feeding fro 10 years or so. Can this skin be removed, and where would the scars be positioned?
A. congratulations on losing all the extra weight. Excess skin can be a real problem after massive weight loss, and the idea behind body contouring surgery following weight loss is to improve your silhouette. The scars are often around the nipple, going downwards from the nipple to the “breast crease” and thereafter along the breast crease. The scars can be treated after around 6-12 months with micropigmentation to improve their appearances, but I’m afraid you have to have scars after body contouring surgery.
