I had a mastoid operation where my bone was diseased at the back of my ear and some of the bone was removed

Q. I am 57 years old and have considered facelift cosmetic surgery for the past 15 years but my issue has always been at 10 years old I had a mastoid operation where my bone was diseased at the back of my ear and some of the bone was removed. The question is would the operation cause any problems with me having facelift surgery.

A. The incisions can be modified a little if the scarring is particularly bad, but I don’t think it would be a problem as in essence you are bringing new and unscarred skin into the area by a face and neck lift. Usually the scar is above the mastoid bone or rather high on it and behind the ear. A little hard to be specific without seeing and feeling the scar. Best wishes Barbara www.barbarajemec.com
