Q. Im 16 and live in northern ireland. I have one ear (right) which is abnormal to the other since birth. I am held back from doing extracuricular activities and the thought of it and if people can see it occupies my mind all day everyday. I feel it definatly had a bad effect on my GCSE’s and my education in general, i feel if i leave it i will reach the brink of psychotic, suicidal, insanity. What can i do?

A. Thank you for your enquiry.   You should be able to discuss with your GP and have a referral to your local NHS hospital.    I have to admit I am not familiar with the Healthcare structure in northern Ireland, but I would imagine it is very similar to the rest of the UK.   Alternatively, you can discuss this with your parents and see if private treatment is an option.
