I have really chubby cheeks. Can I have surgery to correct this?

Q. I have really chubby cheeks i am only 20 and i know every one says it will go…i dont want to look really skinny faced but i do loose confidence over it,all my family have it and we are all very petite iam a size 6-8…could you please help i just want some fat removed form my lower cheek area..as i am constantly sucking my cheeks in now out of habit! thank you

A. Thank you for your enquiry.  The concerns that you are expressing common to many youngsters, and one way to try and understand whether you are likely to see hollowing of your face later in life is to evaluate the way your parents have changed over the years. The procedures typically used to achieve contouring of the face along these lines include liposuction and buccal fat reduction.  Overall, if you to choose the single procedure there is more likely to give you satisfaction, probably liposuction would be the answer. In general terms, for facial sculpting I tend to advise patients to have a 3-D photograph taken, so that we can evaluate during the consultation and the potential changes on a 3-D simulation.  This allows you to choose the procedure or combination of procedures that is most likely to did you a satisfactory outcome.
