I’m a 20-year-old and I would like some information about having my lips enlarged
Q. Hi, I’m a 20-year-old and I would like some information about having my lips enlarged, specifically, my upper lip, as it is very thin and I don’t feel it properly matches the bottom lip, which is quite full. Do you offer any sort of lip-filling injections that could be done with just local anesthetics?
A. Thank you for your inquiry. From your description, I assume that the underlying problem is a slight underdevelopment of the upper jaw, and therefore insufficient support to the upper lip from your teeth. The first step would be to discuss with an orthodontist, and clarify whether braces could be used to improve the position of the teeth and with that to also improve the appearance of the upper lip. The main options for lip augmentation include : – injectable fillers along the lines of hyaluronic acid (Restylane, Juvederm , Teosyal, etc) – Fat transfer injections – silicone implants for the lip (Permalip) If you would like to approach directly the option of lip augmentation, I would suggest using a hyaluronic acid filler, which is typically an office-based procedure, under a local anaesthetic. It also has the advantage of very low risks (bruising, swelling, allergy), as well as reversibility.
