I’m a woman, age 42, who has been experiencing hair loss

Q. I’m a woman, age 42, who has been experiencing hair loss. My GP says it’s most likely just natural aging and heredity, as I’m in good health. The thinning is worse at the front, in the very middle where I used to part my hair. I’m interested in having hair transplantation into this thin area and would like some information about cost, what the surgery entails, etc.

A. Hi there. It appears that the thinning is causing you significant trauma. I believe your GP has run a few tests and cleared you medically. The sugical process involves taking hair one by one from the back of your head and transplanting them to the thinning areas. We do not use scalpels or stitches. Please come in for a consultation so that we could do an evaluation and decide on the future course of action.
