I was born with a large mole which is 7mm in width from side to side which is located on my arm

Q. I was born with a large mole which is 7mm in width from side to side which is located on my arm. Would this be possible to remove and if so how could this be done? I have seen a dermatologist about the mole and was advised there is nothing suspicious about it.

A. The mole can be removed under local anesthetic with a 21 mm long excision. It can be sutured with dissolving stitched under the skin. Most surgeons would send the mole for microscopic evaluation. Any excision will leave a small scar.Ask your GP to recommend a plastic surgeon near you or fins a surgeon at www.baaps.orgRegardsLeRoux Fourie FRCSwww.lerouxfourie.co.uk
