I would like your guidance on some cosmetic surgery

Q. I would like your guidance on some cosmetic surgery. I want to get breast implants done but am worried about them going hard afterwards, what are the chances of this happening and what is worst case scenario i have to have them taken out? Please let me know Many thanks

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   The risk of capsular contracture is of approximately 8-9% at 6 years and 14-15% at 8 years with standard implants, but likely to be approximately 2% with polyurethane coated silicone implants.   If capsular contracture does happen, it is not mandatory to take the implants out, but would require surgery to release the capsule, possibly relocate the implants in a different pocket and possibly change the implants themselves.
