Is it possible to get breast reduction even though i am 58 years old?
Q. Is it possible to get breast reduction even though i am 58 years old. I need them reducing from 34 EE for medical reasons as they give me a bad back. What are the risks as i have heard stories of it going wrong?
A. You can certainly have a breast reduction at that age, but we would recommend a mammogram before going ahead with surgery if you haven’t had one recently. There are risks with any surgery but the commonest one after a breast reduction is the recovery period which is around 6 weeks of dressings while we wait for the wound to heal. However, most people don’t have too many problems with recovery. Clearly there are risks with any operation and these are listed in my website at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/breast_reduction.html and I would also add that if you’ve had a bad back for several years, then a breast reduction is unlikely to make the bad back go away completely.
