Q. Hi there, I am a 19 year old male with a relatively large forehead. I am not balding/am not particularly worried about this in the near future. It strikes me that it would look much better if my hairline were about 1cm lower. What kind of steps could be taken to move the hairline down/make the forehead look smaller? Would, for example a brow lift be an option? I wouldn’t be too keen about the idea of a hair transplant as in 30/40/50 years (my family has relatively good hair genes I think) it would look unnatural. Please advise. I should also add that my hair is quite fine – I don’t know if that makes a difference or not. I would love to hear your opinion. Many thanks, George
A. Dear George,An FUE transplant can be a good solution to lower the hairline and results nowadays are very natural looking. However I would need to see you to be able to provide any more specific advice.Best Regards.

Q. Hi I have been thinking about having forehead reduction surgery or lowering of my hair line as i feel i have a large fore head. Do u carry out this surgery in scotland ? thanks
A. Hi there. Although forehead reduction surgery is possible, it leaves a scar at the junction between the hairline and the forehead. Also, depending on how much laxity there is in the scalp and forehead, we can often only move the hairline down a short distance, necessitating surgery again. So, the results of surgery can be a little variable and not everyone is happy with the final results for a few reasons.

Q. i have an extremely high forehead and it completely ruins my face. can i have a strip of skin taken out to lower my hairline and where is it best to have it done.
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, it is certainly possible to remove this strip of skin from your forehead but this is not a treatment we specialize here at Aurora Clinics. It might be worthwhile finding a surgeon in your region who does specialize in this type of treatment and scheduling a consultation with them. I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to go ahead with treatment. Best wishes yours sincerely, Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. Hi there, over the last year I have developed protruding lumps on my forehead. I have had a CT scan and the results indicate that everything is normal. However these lumps are quite painful and resemble a sort of semi circle on the top of my forehead. As a male, is there any kind of procedure I can have to get rid of these?. Do you know what this is? I am hoping to get referred to a specialist via my GP if i can convince him how much pain I am in however in he past he has just stated that this “swelling” will disappear, however, it is definately some sort of bone growth and not fluid.
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, overall it would be quite important to find out the cause of the lumps on your forehead as they can be caused by the bone or the soft tissue and skin which overlies it. If your GP is not absolutely clear on the cause of the lumps, I think it would be worthwhile being referred to other plastic surgeon or a maxillo-facial surgeon in your area. They would be able to give you advice as to the cause of the bumps exactly we’d be able to discuss the best ways of reducing them. I think it would be worthwhile scheduling further consultation with your GP to try and clarify the situation and perhaps ask for a referral to a suitable specialist. Many thanks for your enquiry.
