I have a history of gaining weight really quickly and im concerned that I will do the same thing after having an abdominoplasty

Q. I have a history of gaining weight really quickly and im concerned that I will do the same thing after having an abdominoplasty, how will it affect the results? Do you offer any type of health program during recovery?

A. Thank you for your email. It is essential to stabilise your weight before embarking upon any body contouring surgery including abdominoplasty. The result will be compromised if you gain weight following the procedure. We give general information regarding physical fitness , diet and nutrition to all our patients who undergo abdominoplasty procedure in our clinic.I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com  to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance. Would it be safe/advisable for someone of 47 years to have abdominoplasty, liposuction and breast augmentation at the same time?

Q. Would it be safe/advisable for someone of 47 years to have abdominoplasty, liposuction and breast augmentation at the same time? I have no long standing health issues, dont smoke or drink and exersise regularly. I imagine that If I had done the latter I would probibly have been seeking this treatmnet several years ago but time catches up with everyone. The reason I would like all the surgeries at the same time is a mainly because of cost but obviously I have no intention of putting my health at risk for no reason. I have contact several surgeons in the London area but have not had any consultations as yet and dont have to have surgery in London if I feel I have found the correct surgeon. Many thanks for listening.

A. Hello there. The answer to this is ‘maybe’!!! It is really difficult to comment on your particular situation without seeing you and discussing what your main concerns are. I often perform tummy tucks and BBA together. It might also be possible to perform some liposuction as well but I would have to reserve judgment until I see you. I was involved in the first Exreme makeover series and we showed that it is possible to do multiple surgeries safely. However, patient safety is always my prime concern. Pl ease do contact Janine or Kim in the office to arrange an appointment on 0845 2600 261 or email help@paulebanwell.com I look forward to meeting you Cheerio Paul Banwell

What are the alternatives for losing about 20 pounds of loose skin around my belly?

Q. What are the alternatives for losing about 20 pounds of loose skin around my belly? I have tried everything to tighten the area up to no avail but I really want to avoid having major surgery…if possible that is. Im really happy with the rest of my figure and havent come to this conclusion lightly and wanted to try and avoid plastic surgery but it seems it my only option.

A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, unfortunately the loose skin around the tummy area is unlikely to be improved with losing weight or toning up the muscles. The main option to treat this area is a surgery to remove the excess tissue. This is done either by a abdominoplasty (tummy tuck procedure) or a body lift procedure if the excess tissue extends onto your flanks and back. For more information about what’s involved in these procedures please visit our website http://aurora-clinics.co.uk where you’ll find lots of information and videos about the procedures and if you’re not too squeamish videos of me actually performing the operations. If you feel you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss the best way forward for you personally please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. I have lost a considerable amount of weight and would like to have my arms, thighs and tummy tightened

Q. I have lost a considerable amount of weight and would like to have my arms, thighs and tummy tightened – as I have excess skin. What would be the likely cost and recovery time?

A. Thank you for your enquiry.   The recovery time is extensive if you combine arm lift, abdominoplasty and thigh lift.   I would normally suggest separating this is into at least two procedures, most likely arm lift and abdominoplasty followed by thigh lift.   For guidance regarding costs related to more common aesthetic surgery procedures, or combination of procedures, please visit my website at: http://aesthetic-plastic-surgery.co.uk/about-cost-of-surgery.php If you would like to find out regarding the cost of procedures not included in the list, or different combinations, as well as to book an appointment, kindly contact our office either by telephone at:  020 7486 7757,  or by e-mail at:  contact@aesthetic-plastic-surgery.co.uk ,  and my team will be delighted to help you.   Kind regards   Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast)

In response to your reply about the question I asked regarding my hysterectomy 8yrs ago

Q. In response to your reply about the question I asked regarding my hysterectomy 8yrs ago. Yes I do have some scars on the abdomen area from surgery for the adhesions but I dont think I have any hernias in the original incisions, certainly no pain anyway. I hope this further information helps and I was able to understand fairly clearly what you said. Thanks you for your helpful response. Regards

A. You are welcome, yes, the scars you may have on your abdomen may compromise the bloodflow to some areas of your abdominal skin and this needs to be taken into account when planning the abdominoplasty. No hernias are good news. best wishes Barbara

I have recently lost over 3 stone in weight have another 2 stone to go, I would like a tummy tuck in the near future

Q. Hi I have had a hysterectomy 8yrs ago, I have recently lost over 3 stone in weight have another 2 stone to go, I would like a tummy tuck in the near future, but I have had surgery for Abdominal adhesions twice, caused by the hysterectomy, would a tummy tuck be able to be performed?

A. Yes an abdominoplasty would be doable, but I presume you have some scars on your abdomen from the surgery for your adhesions? It depends on where these scars are, what kind of abdominoplasty you can have. Do you have a hernia in the old incisions? Well done on having lost the weight. I had a full Gastric Bypass in July 2005 and would now like to look into having the excess skin and fat deposits removed

Q. I had a full Gastric Bypass in July 2005 and would now like to look into having the excess skin and fat deposits removed. The main area of excess skin is around my tummy, buttocks and thighs. Thank you

A. This is a lot of surgery and will necessarily have to be done in several stages, but from what you are writing you are looking at an abdominoplasty, a lower body lift and a thigh lift. Please see www.barbarajemec.com for information on procedures, prices and consultations. Best wishes Barbara

I have a large amount of skin after pregnacy that hangs over my pants or underwear and looks a real mess

Q. Dear Mr ion. I know this may be difficult for you to answer without first seeing me but I have a large amount of skin after pregnacy that hangs over my pants or underwear and look a real mess. I am not overweight, in fact I think im probibly slighly under the weight I should be. Would I need a tummy tuck to get fully rid of this area of fat or could liposuction work for me?

A. Thank you for your inquiry.   From description, it seems to me that an abdominoplasty is likely to be the procedure of choice. For someone who is slim, it is unlikely that liposuction using any available technique would lead to a significant tightening. Kind regards   Lucian Ion, FRCS(Plast) Consultant Plastic Surgeon

Could I have an arm lift at the same time as having a tummy tuck

Q. Could I have an arm lift at the same time as having a tummy tuck. I believe this will lower the costs of having both procedures seperately. Can this be done?

A. Thank you for your enquiry.   It is indeed possible to combine an arm lift procedure and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).   I would advise in this case however to project for at least a 2 week but better a 3 week period for return to work, as this means more areas need to heal in order for you to feel comfortable.
