Q. hello iv spoken to my surgeons nurse prior to a consultation and she said.. that the surgeon uses clips in 20 % of his patients due to thin poor skin quality the others he uses dissovable sutures, if clips used they take them out after 5 days and it leaves no marks? this is worrying me some what as i thought it was old school method and most surgeons use sutures or glue? wouldnt clips leave a train track scar where theres a scar and hole above and below due to where hte clips where inserted even after 5 days? also she said he would use them on me as allergic to nickel does this method or the fact the surgeon uses clips still mean is hould look else for a tt? cheers
A. Surgeons tend to use many different types of stitches and staples on wounds. It’s slightly difficult to give to you an exact opinion as to the breast treatment for you as this varies generally from area to area and on skin types. I myself do not use any staples as I they can leave worse scars and dissolvable sutures and also are painful when you have had them removed. I think it would be worthwhile having a good discussion with your surgeon about their reasons for using staples in your case.
