Q. Im wondering if you could help me, i am interested in having an arm lift. I would like a guide price as to how much this would cost. I was nearly 18 stone and i am now down to 12 1/2 stone. I am interested in a tummy tuck aswell but i want another baby so im going to wait until after that before i look further into that. I am currently a size 14/16 and am quite happy at this weight, although i’d like to lose another stone by my wedding. I am getting married in 2011 and I would like my arms done and the scar healed by this time. I have thought about having liposuction instead of the surgery but my arms are full of stretch marks and i’d rather have one scar than the million i have at the moment. I have a medical condition, hydrocephalus. I do not have a shunt in place and i dont have any problems with this. Would this or my current weight be a problem in having the arm lift surgery? Q. I am 23 and I have always hated my arms. They are very disproportionate, and flabby on the upper part. I was thinking of getting an arm lift, liposuction or both. Which is more suitable for me? Or is there another procedure that could take care of this. I would like to be left with as little scarring as possible.
A. Thank you for your email. The ‘flabby’ arm could be because of excess deposition of fat and/or lose skin. The quality of skin at the age of 23 years is likely to be good in terms of elasticity unless you have significant weight loss. Laserlipolysis assisted with liposuction/aspiration is a recognised method in such cases. Arm reduction/ Brachioplasty is generally considered in matured age group in presence of lose skin with compromised elasticity. I would be happy to give my opinion following a detailed consultation.
