A. Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the looseness of the skin under the chin is not likely to be corrected well but other techniques than a neck lift. For the cheek and jowl area, it would be possible to combine liposuction using the radiofrequency-assisted technique [Bodytite], and fat transfer. For the deeper lines running from the corner or the mouth [labial mandibular lines or marionette lines], there are several types of fillers that can help including hyaluronic acid, Radiesse and Radiesse.

Q. Dear Mr Ion. I had liposuction in South Africa on my hips and thighs approximately 12 years ago…but despite living a healthy life style some stubborn pockets of fat have returned. I am 36 years of age around 5.4 and around 58kg. I am looking to have the procedure done again if possible. I know there are several new liposuction techniques around from when I had it last time. A. Thank you for your inquiry. I would agree with you regarding the choice of technology and technique, in particular since this is a secondary procedure. In addition to this, the area situated below the buttock laterally which is often considered as part and parcel of the lateral thigh liposuction treatment, it is much more challenging and relies on some tightening a good result. With this in mind, using the Bodytite can be a significant bonus.

Q. I have always had large thighs with cellulite/water retention? I have problems even at a lower weight and after going to the gym. I have put on weight during the menopause (I am 51) and it seems almost impossible to move anything whilst I am hormonal. I believe liposelection could help me?
A. Thank you for your inquiry. When there is a combination of fatty tissue deposition, cellulite and water retention in the thighs, which is typically termed lipo-oedema, liposuction may have a role. I will probably favor using the radiofrequency-assisted technique, for additional tightening effect, but it is important to appreciate that this condition is substantially more challenging than standard liposuction, and the degree of correction expected is more limited.

A. Thank you for your inquiry. I have been performing this type of surgery for over 10 years now. In general, I tend to do 10-15 operations of this type a year. Most of them involve only liposuction, both to the breast and side of the chest, and with the advent of a radiofrequency-assisted technique (Bodytite) it is possible to achieve a more significant degree of skin tightening.
