Q. I was 17 stone but dieted and am now slender and overall very pleased with my body, except my upper arms have lots of drooping skin on them. Can this be corrected through plastic surgery, and if so, does the procedure limit me in the future use of my arms? Thank you.
A. Thank you for your email. Congratulations for achieving your weight loss target by dieting. It is quite common to be left with lose saggy skin on upper arms following weight loss. It appears that you are seeking some advice regarding upper arm reduction procedure which is also called brachioplasty. I perform this procedure as a day case. It does not compromise function of your upper arm following the procedure. I have following suggestions to help you further: 1) Please send me good quality photos for total my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance. Q. I am a 53 year old female with enough upper arm sag to feel extremely self-conscious when its is showing. It is seriously affecting my confidence and I feel it limits what clothes I can wear. I have enquired with one surgeon and was advised the scarring from brachioplasty would be too much and it would not be worth it. Im not overweight and the sagging skin is not due to any dramatic weight loss I just want to try to find a solution without leaving me with any massive scarring, I undertsand there is always going to be some scarring and im open to suggestions. Regards
A. acceptance of scarring is fundamental to brachioplasty surgery. Many people undergo this procedure (and it is becoming more popular) and they all accept the scarring involved I would be happy to see you to discuss in more detail. Q. Please send me details of arm lift treatments available at your clinic please. I wondered if I need an arm lift or I can have liposuction around the flabby areas of my upper arms?
A. Thank you for your email. If there is excess deposition of fat in your upper arm then I use laser assisted liposuction. If there is lose skin with excess deposition of fat in your upper arm then I perform arm reduction (brachioplasty) assisted with liposuction. I perform both procedures in our practice. I have following suggestions for you: 1) Please send me good quality photos for my initial comments. 2) You may wish to arrange a detailed consultation to allow me to examine you and give my opinion. 3) Please visit our website: www.vadodariaplasticsurgery.com to allow you to develop better insight into the procedure. Q. I have gone from a size 18 to a size 12 in the last couple of years but as I did this through the Atkins diet and lost weight very quickly I have been left with sagging skin under my arms which is covered in stretch marks. Would liposuction correct these areas?
A. Thank you very much for your enquiry, first well done on losing the weight you’ve done very well with this. Unfortunately, when you do lose the weight you can be left with loose tissue in the arm areas. Unfortunately, liposuction does not help this because the main problem is loose skin rather than excess fat. The only real solution to this is to remove the skin excess skin by an operation known as an armlift or brachioplasty. For more information about this procedure please visit our website http://aurora-clinics.com.uk where you’ll find a video showing the performing of this procedure and if you feel you would like to schedule a consultation please do so by ringing us on 01844-214362. If you could send us a photograph at infoaurora-clinics.com.uk to assess the area that would be more helpful. Many thanks for your enquiry, I do look forward to seeing you in the near future. Best wishes, Yours sincerely Adrian Richards Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics

Q. I require information on the arm lift and prices. Thank you.
A. Thank you for email. If the shape of upper arm is compromised because of excess fat with mild to moderate lose skin then laser assisted liposuction is a reasonable option. If there is significant excess skin then you should consider upper arm lift/ brachioplasty. Please contact my office on 0208 997 3976 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm or by email on info@vadodariaplasticsurgery.com for further guidance. Q. information on procedure for BRACHIOPLASTY will there be a consultation fee ,what time scale would the operation take. thanking you
A. Hi – yes there is a consultation fee of £100, and this is a no obligation consultation. It allows you to decide whether you would like to go ahead with surgery or not depending on what we talk about. I can see you for a consultation in a week or so and you can have the operation in around a month or thereabouts (depending on seasonal demand!)
