My daughter has a birth mark on her ankle that goes nearly all the way around her leg

Q. My daughter has a birth mark on her ankle that goes nearly all the way around her leg. The NHS have refused to treat her because they say it is cosmetic but it makes her very unhappy. Although I wouldent usually encourage her to have cosmetic surgery for this particular problem I am quite happy to help her seek treatment and pay for the costs. I would like to know the different ways it could be removed and any risks involved with said treatment. I have taken some pictures of her leg to email if this would help. I have enquired with several surgeons over the last week but my decision will be based on several factors. I understand it is hard for you to be exact when discussing treatments without actually examining her but I don’t want her to have a consultation with every surgeon I have contacted. We live just outside Oxford and im quite happy to travel to see the right surgeon. I found you not only on this website but also via a recommendation from a colleague at work. She is currently 15 years old and of white European origin if this helps. I thank you for any help you gave provide. Mary

I am considering nose surgery for a reduction

Q. Hello, I am considering nose surgery for a reduction. I have a very large, bulbous nose. I am concerned about the risks. Is it common for bad things to happen. I have heard of many horror stories and wondered whether this is a relatively straightforward procedure in the UK, or just other countries like America. Yours, Mr. Elliott Pacey

A. There are complications associated with all operations and it is important to accept this before embarking upon cosmetic surgery. It is also important to have realistic expectations of partial improvement. In particular, rhinoplasty is associated with a degree of patient dis-satisfaction. Do you research and get as much information on the internet as possible but importantly seek an opinion from a plastic surgeon. best wishes PB www.paulebanwell.com

Im am new to the idea of surgery but would like to be examined for breast asymmetry surgery

Q. Im am new to the idea of surgery but would like to be examined for breast asymmetry surgery. I am very confused about the idea of having surgery and think a consultation is the only way forward to at least find out. How long do we have in the consultation as I have a lot of questions? Would the cost of the consultation be added to the prices of surgery if I went ahead?

A. Hi there. I usually spend 30 minutes during the initial consultation for someone wishing to talk about cosmetic surgery. This includes the time to ask you questions, for me to examine you and for us to discuss what we can hope to achieve from the surgery, and how we’re going to achieve that. If you need a second consultation once you’ve had a think about things, then that consultation is usually free, and you can have another 15 or 30 minutes when you book for a second consultation. At the consultation we usually discuss options, so a second consultation is quite useful in some people. The consultation fees are £100 and this is not taken off the cost of surgery, unless you want to think of the cost of surgery being £100 more than the prices that I’ve listed on line at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/cosmetic_surgery_prices.html. To book a consultation with me please call 01415520828 or email enquiries@labelleforme.co.uk

I know you insist on a consultation before carrying out any procedure

Q. I know you insist on a consultation before carrying out any procedure but I would really appreciate a guide price for a tummy tuck with lipo. Perhaps working on a best and worst case scenerio.

A. Hi there. My prices are all on line at http://www.labelleforme.co.uk/cosmetic_surgery_prices.html so please feel free to have a look there for information. I can’t do too much liposuction on the tummy at the same time as a tummy tuck and sometimes I say to people to have some lipo a year or so later to improve the shape of the abdomen rather than at the time of the operation. There are delicate blood vessels that are significantly stretched after a tummy tuck and they need to remain undamaged to help with your wound healing. Liposuction damages the blood vessels a little (which is why people get bruised after liposuction) and so there is a limit to how we can combine a tummy tuck and lipo

I suffer from quite bad stretch marks around my thighs and legs

Q. I suffer from quite bad stretch marks around my thighs and legs and have tried over the counter treatments which have had no real affect at all. I feel the only way to get something done properly is to have some kind of cosmetic surgery. Can you tell me about the treatments you offer for stretch marks and how affective each one is and how they vary in costs please?

A. Thank you for your inquiry. I am afraid that I do not offer any treatment for stretch marks, and I am not sure whether there are very effective means of treating them.
