A. Certainly caesarean section and tummy tuck do sound a very sensible combination to perform together. Unfortunately, this is often a difficult to cordinate two different surgeons. This is because a caesarean section tends to be performed by obstetricians whose priority is the baby and your safety, whereas tummy tuck is generally performed by plastic surgeons, whose priority is to provide the best possible appearance to the tummy. There is also a coordination difficulty in getting the two surgeons together at the time of your caesarean section. Generally, the best way forward is to have the c-section and when you have finished your family wait at least six months to allow the area to fully recover and tummy muscles to tighten before considering a tummy tuck. It is generally not recommended to have a tummy tuck if you’re further planning to have children. With this two-stage approach, your tummy will look good as possible following having children and this is the normal approach performed in the United Kingdom. This means that general anesthetics are not encouraged unless serious life threatening illnesses. Although your tummy is of concern to you, I don’t think that we’ll consider a life threatening condition and generally I advised against surgery. The reason for this is there may be at risk to your overall health and with your 4 children your health will be our primary concern.
