Q. I have lost a lot of weight since my gastric bypass surgery over a year ago. I now have a lot of excess skin I would like removed. I am considering the Vaser liposuction or Bodytite and wondered if you offer either of these treatments and your thoughts on which is better?

A. Thank you for your email. Please give me some more details about your current weight, height and your recent weight loss. Liposuction techniques like Vaser (Ultrasound assisted), Smartlipo (Laser assisted) and Bodytite (Radiofrequency assisted) may tighten skin to some extent. We need to assess the amount of excess lose skin you have particularly following gastric bypass surgery. Q. I am 29 and after weight loss am very unhappy with my bottom and thighs as I have lots of excess skin. What treatment would you advise to shift the unwanted fat and how much would these procedures cost?

A. Thank you for your enquiry.  Firstly, congratulations on losing all your weight.  Unfortunately, the side effects of this is the excess skin and sometimes fat.  Treatment options will depend on the degree of skin laxity and any excess fat.  Non surgical treatments such as Velashape or 3DEEP RF can provide modest improvement with mild skin laxity.  If the excess skin is large, then a buttock and thigh lift is required.  Costs will vary depending on what is most suitable for you.  The range being form £1500 to £6500.  If you woul dlike to arrange a consultation to discuss your concerns and options, please call Anne or Kirstie on 0845 009 2775Regards

Q. I am of a slim build but after 2 children I have alot of excess skin below my belly button. I have always been unsure about having a tummy tuck because I don t have excess fat on my belly so when I read about the mini tuck I was most pleased. Do you think i would be suitable?

Q. please could you tell me if you can have a tummy tuck when you have had gyna opps. I have had a few gyna opps hence my tummy has excess skin on it and no amount of exercise will rid this excess skin. I already have scaring from previous gyna surgery.

A. Thank you for your inquiry,  Yet it is possible to combine abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) at the same time as other gynaecological operations, or following gynaecological operations. If a combined procedure is what to have in mind, it would obviously be necessary for both your gynaecologist and myself to carry out the surgery in the same hospital.

Q. I would like to know the prices of body lift surgery, i weighed at almost 300lbs.and i m only 25 yrs old!! i have 2 children before i had them i was so skinny and beautiful but after that i was getting depressed and eating disorder….more gaining up…and up. A. surgery for body contouring after massive weight loss involves many operations to remove the excess skin. Q. I am 34-year old man who has lost 12 stone. I had a gastric band fitted and as expected I have extra skin. However I had not expected to have so much extra on my chest. I look like I have been breast-feeding fro 10 years or so. Can this skin be removed, and where would the scars be positioned?

A. congratulations on losing all the extra weight. Excess skin can be a real problem after massive weight loss, and the idea behind body contouring surgery following weight loss is to improve your silhouette. The scars are often around the nipple, going downwards from the nipple to the “breast crease” and thereafter along the breast crease. The scars can be treated after around 6-12 months with micropigmentation to improve their appearances, but I’m afraid you have to have scars after body contouring surgery.

Q. After having lost over 9 stones, I was left with a lot of excess skin. I need know if I can get all of the excess skin removed at one time. All of the skin hanging off of me looks terrible. Can I have more than one surgery at a time? Will I have to stay in the hospital?

A. congratulations on losing so much weight. We often do two surgery procedures at one time in people who have had massive weight loss, but we don’t really do more than two at a time. You will have to stay in hospital for a length of time that depends on the operation we’re doing – eg 1-2 nights’ stay in hospital

Q. What is there treatment / surgery wise that can be done about the large amounts of excess skin that I seem to have on my arms as i have aged? The skin really hangs down rather badly and I feel terrible and although i am 62 and not wanting a bikini body it would be nice to wear shorter tops and show my body off a bit more. When i had my breast reduction done a few years ago it was one of the best thing that ever happened to me, so now I am considering getting my arms done. How big will the scar be and long is recovery?
