Q. Can you tell me how old you have to be for liposuction as i am 16 and have a lot of fat on my chest and it looks like a womans. I hate them so much and have been teased for many years. What would it cost? Do my parents need to be involved?
A. I think it is very important that did discuss your concerns with your parents, and ideally also with your GP. When evaluating someone for treatment for gynaecomastia, it is usually beneficial to do also some blood tests and determine whether there are any hormonal imbalances that may benefit from addressing. For management of gynaecomastia, it is possible to do the treatment at your age, and I do find that radiofrequency assisted liposuction (Bodytite) is a powerful tool for contouring as well as tightening the tissues to achieve a more normal appearance of the chest. If there is also a problem of weight excess, it would be to your advantage to address it.
