Q. Could you please tell me what is the expected recovery time from having a clitoral hood removal please?

A. Thanks. Depending on extent of surgery and whether it is done under local or general anaesthesia, you will either be able to walk out of the theatre and get on with normal caring for the wound, etc or it may take a few days to recover well. However, most patients are well able to go back to office work in 5-days. This is assuming no labioplasty has been done in addition.

Q. After labial reduction would giving birth mean that the result of the procedure would be undone and the labial reduction operation need to be repeated?

A. Not at all. The labial is removed to your specification. The removed labia cannot be tear with childbirth, as it is not there. I hear some ladies’ reason for labioplasty includes not wanting it to be torn at childbirth! – as this will disfigure an already protruding labia.
